Multi-Spindle Automatic Screw Machines

Manufacturing Services is proud to share our multi- Spindle automatic screw machine capabilities. Since 1970 our main area of business has been our screw machine department. We utilize Davenport multi-spindle machines, the fastest, most versatile and economical multi-spindle machine ever made. Many people are not aware of the advantages of multi-spindle automatic screw machines. This guide is designed to help you understand the advantages of these machines and how they can benefit you.

Multi-Spindle Automatic Screw Machines

What is multi-spindle automatic screw machining?

A multi-spindle screw machine is a type of cam operated automatic lathe that allows multiple tools to cut multiple pieces of material simultaneously. We utilize 5 spindle machines, which means the material in each of the 5 spindles is simultaneously addressed by a cross-slide and end slide tool, effectively making each spindle a 2-axis lathe. While in use, the entire length of bar stock is turning inside the spindle. After the length of bar being machined has cycled through all 5 positions, the part is cut off from the rest of the bar and ejected. Davenport machines utilize a back end pickoff, which eliminates any burrs caused during the cut-off.This is a major advantage over most CNC machines. The full bar of material is then pushed forward through a collet to begin a new part. Most parts can be produced in 10 seconds or less.

Different from CNC Machining

While being capable of higher precision and tighter tolerances, CNC machines are slower and less efficient than multi-spindle automatic screw machines. This is due to the simplified set-up and high-speed production of the multi-spindle automatic. As opposed to CNC machining, which works on one part at a time, automatic multi-spindles work on 5 parts at a time. This means, a high volume of parts can be produced with high levels of efficiency, in terms of both time and cost.

Why Use multi-spindle automatic screw machines?

Multi-spindle automatic screw machines can be used to produce parts for anything from dental equipment, lawn mowers and pneumatic fittings, to adjustable nuts and interchangeable screw driver heads, with a high degree of efficiency. In fact, approximately 1/3 of all screw machine parts produced in the USA are used in the assembly of automobiles. Multi-spindle screw machines have a very high production output rate, making it quicker than other methods of machining. For high volume production of turned components, nothing is as cost efficient or productive as a screw machine.

Screw Machine Products

Multi-spindle automatic screw machines are used to produce parts for a wide array of industries. An example of the parts produced for just a few of these industries include:
Controls: Temperature controls, lock controls and air control valves. Can be used in clocks and kitchen ovens.
Hardware: Adjustable nuts and interchangeable screwdriver bits. Many parts produced by a multi-spindle screw machine can be found in your local hardware store.
Fasteners: Set screws, cap screws, square head screws, hex head bolts, self locking nuts. Fittings: Oil, pneumatic, hydraulic and grease fittings.Multi-spindle screw machines are the number one selection of manufacturers producing these types of fittings.
Automotive:Shock Absorbers, needle valves and spark plug components.

Manufacturing Services utilizes 25 Davenport multi-spindle automatic screw machines. We primarily service the electrical industry, but do and have serviced other industry segments.

All of our products are proudly made in the U.S.A.
